Amy and Rob got married at Trevenna Barns on a wet yet beautiful November day in 2019. Trevenna had been recommended to them from a friend of a friend whilst on a visit to Cornwall checking out wedding venues and they managed to squeeze in a visit last minute before they hosted their next wedding. They feel very lucky to have found them.
There was no particular theme but Amy and Rob were after a relaxed wedding with no stuffy rules and regulations. Amy chose the colours rose gold, navy and silver/grey as her dress was rose gold and Rob loves blue!
Amy wasn’t sure what she was looking for in a dress until she found what she didn’t want after a dress shop assistant made her try on a few dresses that were NOT for her. She knew she wanted something that no one else had and got in touch with Sital from Threads London who made a dress to fit her figure. And what a dress it was! It was a rose gold sequin gown with a low back and puddle train.
“I Love it and felt very much like me in it! It’s beautiful and I’ll never get rid of it”
Hair and Makeup
Amy’s wonderful friend and bridesmaid Sophie did her makeup and the fabulous Emma at Hair by Emma C did her hair.
Kirsty from Escential Blooms was their florist.
“We loved her social media content and her vibe. Kirsty was also really lovely to work with, such a nice warm lady and knew exactly what I wanted. I wanted more foliage and greenery rather than flowers. She was bang on the money with our flowers and decoration. My bouquet was stunning, filled with succulents, long grasses, small white roses, eucalyptus and beautiful greens. I still have it a year on. I made sure to dry it after the wedding and it’s lasted really well”
Rob and the boys got their outfits from TM Lewin and the groomsmen trousers were from Gap.
It was only natural that Amy made their wedding rings herself as she is a very talented goldsmith. I have been in touch with Amy recently as she has beautifully replaced a missing stone in a very special ring of mine. Check out her website here – https://www.amyeirajewellery.co.uk
Amy’s wedding ring is 9ct rose gold with small white gold granules around the top edge. Rob’s is 9ct white gold, He wanted something plain and simple with a matt finish and Amy clearly wanted totally the opposite of plain and simple.
Briony, Amy’s sister made their wedding cake, placed on a tower of donuts. It was lemon flavoured and totally made by hand the day before the wedding on site at Trevenna.
A favourite moment
I was asked by a couple recently what part of a wedding day is my favourite to photograph. It was a question I had never been asked before. There are so many moments that happen on a wedding day and each unique to the couple. One of my favourite moments from Amy and Rob’s wedding was during the speeches when Rob’s Nephew and Niece stood up with a poem written on large banners –
During the day Amy and Rob had an acoustic artist from Leicester, Richie Phillips. He played all their favourite songs and had a wonderful relaxed vibe. He also sang during the ceremony which was totally beautiful and something Amy will never forget.
” Listening to those songs still makes me cry”
The evening DJ was provided by Crown entertainment. They also provided the LOVE letters.
Photography Testimonial –
“Well Laura, what can we say! Your skills, professionalism and overall care of our day and what we wanted was above and beyond! We look at our photos you took of our special day, every single day. You really captured us and the vibe of our day perfectly. You knew exactly what Trevenna’s beautiful surroundings could bring to our photographs and that really shows in them. Particularly the autumn colours of the tress in the lane, they are some of our favourites. We had a lot of wonderful comments about your work, how conscientious you were, some photographers really seem to get in the way, but you were like a Wizard zooming and out of the guests without making them feel uncomfortable at all. We can’t thank you enough for providing us with the lasting memories of our wonderful day. We will treasure them forever and always will. Thank you x”
Anything that helped when you were planning your wedding?
“I listened to a podcast called Bridechilla. It’s amazing and really helped me realise that our day was our day and we didn’t have to conform to anyone else’s standards of what a wedding should and shouldn’t be! My favourite phrase from the podcast was ‘put it in the f*** it bucket’ it’s a phrase I still use today. I also found that social media was very useful in finding suppliers.”
A Great website that I can also highly recommend is Eeek.
