From April to September –
Laura and Richard originally had their wedding booked at Trevenna Barns for April 2020. Due to Covid and Lockdown they had to postpone to September 2020 and reduce numbers to 30 guests.
Trevenna were great at making the wedding day run as close as possible to what Laura and Richard had been planning.
“Covid had a massive impact on our wedding. With the first lockdown starting 3-4 weeks before our wedding, we were forced to re-scehdule our big day that was supposed to be in April 2020. We originally planned on a 2 night get away with around 40 guests. Trevenna were really supportive and reassured us that they would do everything possible to support us during the difficult and stressful time. Having no idea how big the Covid situation could get, we decided to reschedule for a single day stay, 5 months later in September and hope for the best. After all, we had already waited a year for the original date and didn’t want to put a pause on life. All the suppliers and the registrars were really good and were able to move dates at no extra cost. As our wedding day fell on a week day, we felt that it gave us an advantage when moving the date to another week day as obviously the weekends are very sought after.
Originally we planned on 40 day guests with an additional 40-50 evening guests. When weddings were finally allowed again, the new rules only allowed 30 people at the wedding including us and the registrars. Unfortunately this meant reducing our daytime guest list and cancelling all evening guests. The important thing for us was that we wanted to get married and after the disappointment of cancelling the first date and the stress of the uncertain times, we didn’t want Covid to beat us. So we went ahead with the 30 guests.
It was an intimate day with just the 30 guests. We were able to really enjoy the time spent with all our guests and although the full guest list would have been lovely, we still had a dream day. We were even lucky with the weather, as we really wanted to get married outside down at the arbour. It was foggy in the morning but nice and sunny for the ceremony and in to the afternoon.
We were able to have a sit down reception with all the same food we had chosen. Anything that would have been shared was plated up on individual plates. We also decided to keep the evening entertainment. DJ Northey was great, and because dancing was to be discouraged, Trevenna set up a lounge style room where the Dj set up instead of a dance floor. We also hired a fun magic mirror that fuelled some laughs and made great pictures as well as a guest book.

Bow Beauty, formally known as Hands and Tans. ” Joanna made us feel comfortable and relaxed on the morning of the wedding. We felt very pampered”
Red Hair Liskeard, “So professional and really helpful when it came to arranging my veil. We showed images of the types of styles we wanted and we got exactly that and lasted all day”
Ernest Jones, Plymouth Drake’s Circus. ” We really enjoyed the process of choosing the right rings for us. Laura chose a yellow gold wedding band with diamonds to match her engagement ring. Richard chose a yellow gold court ring.
” I visited about 3 wedding dress shops in total. I knew I wanted a white fitted wedding dress with a bit of sparkle and something a bit different. When I visited Amica Bridal Boutique the girls in there were really helpful and encouraged me to try lots of different styles as sometimes you surprise yourself with what suits you. Surprisingly I did like a lot of them! I ended up with an ivory/gold Ronald Joyce fitted sparkly dress with capped sleeves and knew it was the one when I put it on – a feeling I thought I was never going to get! I really wanted to wear a veil too as this would make me feel like a real bride! I went for a full length ivory veil with a sparkly trim which I loved and matched the dress perfectly.”
“Richard chose to go head to toe in Ted. Choosing a Ted Baker tailored fit faded blue twill suit with a double breasted waistcoat, floral patterned tie and brogues.”
“We had Trevenna’s cake, made in house by Mark. It was a naked victoria sponge cake with fruit and it was delicious both on the night and the next morning after breakfast. 🙂
“One of the things we wanted to have to remember our wedding, was a highlight film. And we chose Liam from Soby films to capture ours. We fell in love with his filming techniques and editing style and we also knew someone who had him capture their wedding too. Liam captured all the main events from getting ready to the first dance in a truly unobtrusive style. Liam also worked well with Laura as they could help each other with shots and capture our special moments during the same times. When the film was ready, it was easily available to download in different formats from his website.”
“We were very happy to have Laura as our photographer. We met up a couple of weeks before our original date in the Spring and spoke through ideas of the kind of images we’d like to get. We were pleased that Laura was very much on the same page as us when it came to ideas and it helped that she knew the venue inside and out, and knew all the best places to take pictures. She was with us all day on the wedding, capturing everything and more throughout the day. A day or two later, Laura shared with us a small selection of her favourite images, so we didn’t have to wait long to see any results. Laura was friendly yet professional and exceeded all expectations when it came to the photography. Having her capture our day was very special. Richard having worked as a photographer himself, expresses that Laura’s work is beautiful and outstanding.”
